Radley College Chapel

Client: Beard Construction

Project: Partial demolition of external wall in 1890's grade 2* listed chapel

Brief: To enable the chapel to be extended, works involved installation of temporary propping according to the Engineer’s design, to allow the removal of the lower half of 1000mm thick masonry walls while retaining structures above. The structures above included a priceless, historic stained glass window to 4 apses and sanctuary on this beautiful 1890’s Grade 2* listed building.

Buxton Sidings

Client: Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd (Network Rail)

Project: 19,690m3 of contaminated soil remediation at the Buxton Sidings site, part of Network Rail infrastructure

Brief: The client BGCL, were commissioned by Network Rail to construct a 550 metre railway siding, enabling longer freight trains to operate at this site. The legacy of the proposed route had been a heavily contaminated tip and the primary hazard was asbestos. Adhering to a detailed remediation strategy, Maylarch were contracted to cut through the site, safely dealing with all the contaminants present, including Japanese Knotweed.

Lucy Faithfull House demolition

Client: Oxford City Council

Project: Maylarch were engaged as Principal Contractor on this project for demolition and asbestos removal of a 4 storey building in Oxford city centre

Brief: Maylarch successfully tendered for this project for Oxford City Council. The contract included erection of site hoarding, and installation of perimeter fencing on completion, removal of asbestos, demolition of the four storey building, and single storey front and back extensions.

Client: Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd (Network Rail)

Project: Banbury Rail Depot Remediation

Brief: To remediate as per the remediation Strategy a 10 acre site to be used for a refuelling depot for network rail. Contaminants included asbestos, hydrocarbons and knotweed. The main contaminant was asbestos which was found across the site. Our brief was to design on site remediation methods to meet the spec as well as reduce the initial budget. This was achieved by diverting from Landfill and the traditional “dig & dump “ method by implementing an in situ remediation strategy.

Asbestos waste segregation

Client: BCM Construction Ltd (on behalf of UKPN and Network Rail)

Project: Asbestos Land Remediation

Brief: Maylarch was contracted to remediate asbestos contaminated soil to allow the client to safely lay the foundations for a new substation. The extent contamination was unknown so we had to design our methodologies to keep the project moving.
