Maylarch – Recycling the Past to Help Build the Future at Pegasus

Eynsham based company, Maylarch Environmental Ltd, have been appointed as demolition and asbestos removal contractors for the Pegasus Theatre redevelopment and expansion project.

Maylarch Environmental Ltd are thrilled to be involved with this project, given the impact that the extension to the theatre will have on the local community. Maylarch’s long standing and continued commitment to recycling and company ethos to operate in a sustainable manner helped to secure the appointment.

The theatre has been a long time champion of the theatre and arts education with young people, the local community and professional artists at the start of their careers and following many years of fund raising, the Theatre’s management were awarded government funding to realise their dream.

Phase 1 of the demolition works, began on site on Thurs 15th Jan and the PR dept were there to capture the moment.

Demolition Manager, Kevin Bowerman has estimated that over 90% of the outbuildings scheduled for demolition will be recycled and diverted from landfill.

Maylarch regularly work within the heart of Oxford City on many historic sites and have excellent experience in this field. Maylarch also work throughout Oxfordshire, The Thames Valley and the South East, clearing sites ready for regeneration.

Nick Williamson MD states, “As a Demolition Contractor, we are in the business of taking down buildings which ultimately produces large amounts of waste, we believe the onus is upon us to be responsible in how we handle that waste. Last year Maylarch recycled 91% of the waste produced as a result of our business activities, thus diverting it from landfill and saving an estimated 1300 tonnes of Co2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere.”
