Maylarch Environmental Ltd welcomed the Prime Minister and local MP David Cameron along with representatives from Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Oxfordshire Apprenticeships to our Eynsham head office on Friday to discuss the impacts of developing skills within the workforce. As part of the government’s pledge to create three million apprenticeships by 2020, Mr Cameron came to see how Maylarch practices its commitment to Apprenticeships and upskilling training.

Right to Left: Nigel Tipple (OXLEP), Anthony Preston (previous Demolition Apprentice – CITB Construction Ambassador), David Cameron (Prime Minister and Witney MP), Craig Kane (Asbestos Surveyor Trainee), Hatti Tweedle ( HR & Training), Daniel Saunders (previous Asbestos Removal Trainee) and Nick Williamson (Maylarch Director)

At Maylarch we recognise that our most important resource is our employees and given the nature of the work that we undertake, staff training and development is at the forefront of our business.

“Apprenticeships help young people to immerse themselves in a career while gaining qualifications which they will be able to use in the future. It is also beneficial for a company to have the possibility to train its future employees at the earliest possible stage.”

Hatti Tweedle, HR and Training Manager

“We have operated within the IIP (Investors In People) framework since 2005 and follow a training programme designed by the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board), which is supported by our membership to The 5% Club. Our apprentices, therefore, have the confidence that they are being trained to the highest level and following the best practices of the industry. In return, we know we can rely on their professionalism and enthusiasm to execute a great job.”

Nick Williamson, Managing Director
