National Apprenticeship Week (5th – 9th March 2018) - Meet our apprentices

Declan's in the hoops....

As we are midway through the National Apprenticeship Week 2018 we wanted to introduce Declan Peart

Declan joined Maylarch in July 2016 as our Administration Apprentice. Following the 1 year, Level 2, Diploma in Business and Administration with Abingdon & Witney College, he successfully completed his apprenticeship and now utilises the skills he learnt in his full time role as Contracts Administrator.

It has always been an objective of Maylarch to offer full time employment to all apprentices after they complete their training. This is both a benefit to the company and the individual and Declan is a great example of the value an apprentice can give to any organisation.

We caught up with him in the busy office to ask a few questions!

Why did you choose an apprenticeship route? - 'I wanted the opportunity to learn/train whilst on the job and earning’

What did you do before joining Maylarch - 'I was a retail assistant at the popular Bicester Outlet Village’

What is the best bit of your current job - 'I enjoy the variety of the tasks I do. I support the removal and demolition departments in the office and on the sites, as well as the HR & Training, Stores & Procurement and QH&S function. I always have a variety of things to do.’

How you spend your spare time – ‘When I am not at work I spend most of my time playing football, I play centre back for Oxford City. I also enjoy going to the gym and spending time with family & friends.'

Maylarch are members of the 5% Club and have a commitment to strive to achieve 5% of their workforce in ‘earn and learn’ positions (including apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formalised training schemes).
