Work experience week

This week we are joined by a student from our local secondary school, Bartholomew School, in Eynsham.

Richard Petty has spent the week with various members of the team and has learnt how industry works, hopefully developing a range of business skills that will be useful in the future, both in and out of the office. The opportunity of work experience allows students to see how their school subjects are relevant to work and how they can be applied in the work place. It is a chance to prepare for adult working life and help them think more about career ideas and future training opportunities.

Richard initially spent time with employees from Marketing and Bid development, HR & Training, Recruitment, Transport & Plant, Finance and the Demolition Department. The rest of the week will be with the Asbestos Removal Department, Quality Health Safety & Environmental, the Administration team and by the end of the week he should have experience of all areas of Maylarch, a busy and successful SME business.

'Our students find Work Experience very valuable and it gives them the opportunity to develop essential employability skills' - Linda Williams Careers & Work Experience Administrator
